The streets of London - again

It seems summer has arrived in London. The last weeks were mostly about bright sunny days and relatively hot weather.

I have to note now, that in Scandinavia if the temperature goes above 20 celsius degrees and you can see the sun at the same time, it can be definitely considered as a wonderful summer weather. In the recent years I got used to this, and now I can't even bear if it is hotter than 30 degrees.
Now I started to have difficulties, as there is almost no wind, and the temperature has approached my limit several times already. I could not stay inside my house, sometimes it is even worse there, so I had to go out taking some pictures.
Above left you could see a picture of my common photo-topic, the London Eye, while on the right the driver of a double-decker is probably having siesta.

These pictures have not been taken on an Easter vacation to Northern Africa or the Middle-East, but on the streets of Whitechapel, in London. It is really interesting to go there, you can experience a totally different atmosphere from what you see a few miles further to the center of London.

Well, this post happened to be quite short, more pictures are coming soon.

London by night

When you hear 'London by night', probably you would expect more than just these few pictures presented here. I am sure there is going to be much more later on, so lets consider this to be the first part of the 'London by night' series.
So here you can see actually a picture from China Town. Although I am not really satisfied with the result, but I have uploaded it, as I think it still reflects its atmosphere quite well.

And just one more shot (taken at the National Gallery) which I felt interesting enough to upload here.
So well, this post happened to be relatively short, basically because I could not have those walks which I have planned, for several reasons.
I hope next time I will be able to present more pictures to you.

Just the usual, London

Being busy with school project, does not help me exploring the city. And even if I decided to visit some "unknown" areas, I just tend to be held up by the usual things. Today we had such a surprisingly sunny weather, I just could not stay sitting at my desk, so I opened up London´s sity map, and I pointed at Regent´s Park.
On the way, I came across the famous big wheel, the London Eye (or EDF Energy London Eye, how it´s called recently), and guess what has happened. I stayed there till dark.

I could not miss taking some photos from good old Big Ben with the Parliament in sunset, and some lampions which has been left there from last week´s Chinese New Year celebration (maybe I´ll post some pictures from that event next time).

And some more clichés I wanted to add earlier. Well, there´s nothing to tell about the Tower Bridge, unlike that phone booth on the left. It´s actually situated on my way to school, close to my house. It gives an essence of the area ;)

And I will close this post with some interesting buildings I see almost every day. I thought I will finish writing earlier, but at half time I went to the kitchen making a coffee, when I had to face the fact that a mouse is enjoying my things in the larder cupboard. So as a break, it took some time to clean up the mess my new little friend has made. London has a surprise for me for every day. Cheers!

London, Baby!

It has been a while since my last entry. After leaving Norway, many things has happened, but most importantly, I have been accepted to the University of the Arts London. The course finishes in December, so I have almost a year to take pictures about London (and maybe other parts of UK as well) and document my stay. I am continuing my blog in a similar way I did before, but if anyone has suggestions for changes I would gladly hear about that ;)
So let the year begin in London, Baby!

Well, the fact is that London is actually the most populous city in the European Union. As I have never lived not even close to that sized cities before, my first impression about London was that it´s HUGE! And the second was: it´s still HUGE. Now I´m getting used to it (or at least trying to), but I´m sure it will take a bit more time.

Otherwise, it seems to be a very interesting city, with lots of places to go and lot of things to do. When I had some time, I started exploring some areas, visiting the Must See places or the most well known parts of London, specially in the centre. Therefore you can see some pictures of Big Ben and the London Eye, but you can see some famous skyscrapers and buildings like The Gherkin, Vertigo 42 and the Willis Building.

Although they are over photographed by millions of people, even I cannot resist to take another picture of them. They are just look a bit different all the time I pass by, and maybe I can understand why so many tourist want to see them when they are happened to be in London.

And of course there are places which are not in spotlight but I still find them rather interesting.
