Just the usual, London

Being busy with school project, does not help me exploring the city. And even if I decided to visit some "unknown" areas, I just tend to be held up by the usual things. Today we had such a surprisingly sunny weather, I just could not stay sitting at my desk, so I opened up London´s sity map, and I pointed at Regent´s Park.
On the way, I came across the famous big wheel, the London Eye (or EDF Energy London Eye, how it´s called recently), and guess what has happened. I stayed there till dark.

I could not miss taking some photos from good old Big Ben with the Parliament in sunset, and some lampions which has been left there from last week´s Chinese New Year celebration (maybe I´ll post some pictures from that event next time).

And some more clichés I wanted to add earlier. Well, there´s nothing to tell about the Tower Bridge, unlike that phone booth on the left. It´s actually situated on my way to school, close to my house. It gives an essence of the area ;)

And I will close this post with some interesting buildings I see almost every day. I thought I will finish writing earlier, but at half time I went to the kitchen making a coffee, when I had to face the fact that a mouse is enjoying my things in the larder cupboard. So as a break, it took some time to clean up the mess my new little friend has made. London has a surprise for me for every day. Cheers!

  1. A mouse? You mean a real one, not the one connected to the computer?! Well, it might be better than bedbugs - I've heard they also show up in London...

  2. HAHAHA :D I guess it would have been just as much unexpected finding a computer-mouse there, but unfortunately this was not from that kind.

  4. Hey Hetty,
:) well, yeah, a cat...right. Only if it´s a very self sufficient one which would not want to stay after finishing the dirty job :P
I´m really glad you like my pictures, it´s always good to hear what people think about your work.
And thanks for the info as well, I checked it out and it sounds cool. If I can manage my time I will go there ;)
But have you left UK as well, or just London?

i keep thinking: why didnt i think of cool photography angles like that!!

  6. Ah, ok I see. So you´re still here. Hmm, so do you know by accident if there´s any cat-rent in London? :D (Although it seems only by talking about cats scared away all mice already - at least I´m hoping so)
Oh, so you must know a lot about keeping mice out of homes if you are from the "land of cheese" ;)

  8. Ohh! Then you are really well prepared :P
Nice! So that´s why you could not go to the photowalk. Unfortunately I could not make it either. Maybe next time ;)
Well, I´m studying Graphic Design. Or at least that´s how the course is called. Are you studying as well?

  9. riggght... here's the awkward moment of admitting im (probably) almost old enough to be your mother?? (im 39)so studying has been over for a while, but im teaching - and work in a sideline in graphic design.

  10. Well, I would say that that "almost" is rather several years, but anyway, age is not a factor when speaking about studying. Don´t you think so?
And after all, I wasn´t that far as you are still connected to school ;) And kind of surprisingly connected to graphic design as well! Does this mean that you are teaching the same sideline of graphic design as you are working in? And actually what do you mean by that? (if I´m not getting too personal)

  11. i'm dutch - i will tell you when things get too personal ;) (are you sure you want all this on Your blog??)
I'm working part time as an arts and crafts teacher in a primary school in east london. the sideline is hard to explain without physically showing you i think, as it is something i invented myself. I create photoalbums for other people (very crappy website in the making at www.memorybooks.co.cc) I started off years ago with 'scrapbooking' as a hobby, discovered the digital way of doing it (photoshop/paintshoppro) and in creating my own family albums i got asked to write down the how-to, and ended up with an internet class on how to create/design your own 'material';my view on creating memorybooks (part keepsake, part graphic design point of view) On top of that people just liked MY albums and I started doing albums for others, which ranges from holiday pictures, babyalbums to weddingalbums.
am i still making sense?? :/

i originally trained as a music teacher - i guess i got a little sidetracked somewhere haha

  12. I´m not really sure why having "all this" on my blog would be a problem, but if is more comfortable for you, you can find my email adress on my website.
Unfortunately www.memorybooks.co.cc is not loading for some reasons. I think I can imagine what you are doing, although it would be nice to see some examples. I guess they do not look like as common photoalbums ;)
At least now I can see some kind of connection between your interests in photography, graphic design and teaching - even if it has started as a music teacher :)
